Our Review

Just as Live! Bootleg defined Aerosmith in the ‘70s, and Classics Live! defined the band in the ‘80s, A Little South of Sanity defines them for the ‘90s, their most commercially successful period and it finds the veteran band in fighting form. Recorded during tours for Get a Grip (1993/1994) and Nine Lives (1997/1998), these tracks sound exactly the way a live album should: a little louder, a little edgier, but with all the uproarious attitude and whip-smart precision of the studio recordings. “Back In the Saddle,” “Last Child,” and “Walk This Way” all translate the band’s razor-sharp riffs to a stadium setting. “Falling In Love (Is Hard on the Knees),” “The Other Side,” and “Dude (Looks Like a Lady)” are emboldened by the presence of a horn section, while grandiose ballads like “Angel” are presented in refreshingly stripped-down versions. Producer Jack Douglas, who oversaw early Aerosmith classics like Rocks and Toys In the Attic, helped pull this live collection together. While age and sobriety brought a new energy and focus to the Aerosmith live experience, their rendition of “Mama Kin” proves they still carry the reckless spirit of their youth.

My favorite live album of all time... (5 stars)
The title speaks it all. A Little South Of Sanity by Aerosmith is the best live album from any 70's/80's hard rock band. It was recorded in 1998, and even after years of drug addiction, the band still sounds better than ever. Perry had some intersting new solos written just for this tour, and Steven Tyler's voice hasn't altered a bit. The best stuff I think is on the second disc, which includes live versions of all of their 70's and early 80

so hawt ::sigh:: (5 stars)
I'm young and I think aerosmith rocks! It's not just for the people that grew up "in the days" it's for future generations to come.This is a great cd. My personal favs from this album are "Janies got a gun", "cryin' ", "dude (looks like a lady)" & "dream on". I'm going to see Aerosmith/Lenny Kravitz on 2/20 live. I can't wait!!! *Buy your tickets! They rock!

Holy Crap... They Rock!!! (5 stars)
I typically don't like live albums, but Aerosmith really knows how to do it. Their energitic style is enhanced by their live performances! If you buy the whole album you shall not be disappointed, but the 2nd disc has all the best songs. Afterall, $20 is alot of money! So what I recommend are tracks 14, 17, 20, 21, and 23. There are others, but these are the best tracks.(Also, if you like Aerosmith, try "Jaded" and/or "Walk O

Biography

Years Active: '70s, '80s, '90s, '00s, '10s

Aerosmith was one of the most popular hard rock bands of the '70s, setting the style and sound of hard rock and heavy metal for the next two decades with their raunchy, bluesy swagger. The Boston-based quintet found the middle ground between the menace of the Rolling Stones and the campy, sleazy flamboyance of the New York...
