TWO ALBUMS IN ONE (5 stars)
Don't bother getting THE ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND or IDLEWILD SOUTH. They are both included here in BEGINNINGS. I kid you not, this is nothing but the two albums put together. 1-7 comes from THE ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND, and 8-14 comes from IDLEWILD SOUTH. Some of the songs here "Trouble No More" "Whipping Post" and "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed" are all better heard on FILLMORE EAST and EAT A PEACH, but it's EVERY SONG

many of the tunes here a great Allman Bro classics / but few people know the song "Please call home" - w/ Duane on guitar, this tune is a wonder - sweet and tender, it's just an amazing work.

"Southern Rock" at it's very best (5 stars)
The Allman Brothers were talented beyond belief. Duane had played on many "Soul" records in the 60's and Greg had a voice that was born for the Blues. The rest of the band was tight and could play almost any style of music. If you want only one "Southern Rock" record, this is it! Peace.
