He approaches his songs with a filmmaker’s flair and an actor’s bravado — tracks like the trucker’s anthem “Drive It On Home,” the barroom lament “Somewhere Else” and the Western-themed title tune are classic narratives with a modern twist. Keith isn’t above dishing out tongue-in-cheek sexism (“Get Out of My Car”) or rhyming “convertible” with “flirtable” (in “Think About You All of the Time”). He gets all the details right in “Trailerhood,” a pungent slice of Southern life set to an easy-going groove. Amidst the twanging rockers and simmering mid-tempo tracks are tender young-love tunes (“Kissin’ In the Rain”) and yearning heartbreak numbers (“In a Couple of Days”). The album’s Deluxe Edition adds four live cuts, including surprising renditions of Roger Miller’s bopping “Chug-a-Lug” and Gordon Lightfoot’s brooding “Sundown.” Bullets In the Gun is prime Keith, swaggering, sly and tuneful to its core.. The song "Get Out of My Car is rude, crude and way beneath the Toby Keith I normally listen to and buy. Toby needs to go back to his first album and listen to "Mama Come Quick" and wonder how someone who performed that song could record a low class tune like "Get Out of MY Car". Mama would come Sigh (2 stars) This release is a continuation of the fall of Mr. Toby Keith. At one point, Toby was my favorite male country artist but I've been bored with his latest releases. The only goods songs on this release are 'Somewhere Else' and 'Bullets in the Gun'. The rest is easily forgettable. Next time Toby, take MORE time planning an album because the 'album release every year' stuff is getting old, and it shows. great album (5 stars) I love this album, the songs are back to country roots!! There isn't a song on the album I don't like, it's time for country music to make a comeback and no one better than Toby to do it!! I would recommend this album to anyone who likes country music, and if you don't like country, try it anyway.
