Endgame picks up where its successful predecessor, Appeal to Reason, left off: contrasting anger with melody. But as the title suggests, this 2011 offering takes the end days of mankind as its theme. “Architects” kicks off as a pummeling hardcore rhythm section pounds under winding guitars and Tim McIlrath rails against political apathy; he sometimes sounds like Ian MacKaye fronting Bad Religion. In the highly accessible “Help Is on the Way” he jabs at those who pine for a liberal-leaning superhero to stand up against the corporate machine before the even catchier “Make It Stop (September's Children)” muses on the everymen fighting for the right to live as the corporations destroy the world. “Broken Mirrors” features old-school punk with relevantly empowering lyrics set to sing-along melodies, while the anthemic “A Gentlemen’s Coup” works in winding guitars and staccato rhythms that make way for powerful, fist-pumping gang vocals.

Give it a chance, its worth it. (5 stars)
Off the bat, the album seems to be odd to just about everybody. Classic Rise fans find themselves as alienated as they were from appeal to reason for the catchy more mainstream tunes, while fans who found RA in appeal to reason, will find harder more intense, less outright catchy radio songs(which is pretty much all appeal to reason was made up of).

But don't be fooled by your immediate reaction, the album is actually really great

Its not bad but its not great either its ok, I expected something more out this album plus all the song sound the same and not one of them stands out from the rest. Awesome band, good album but not their best. Not really much to say...

Music With A Message (5 stars)
One thing I have always enjoyed about Rise Against is that, they have always had a message with their music. They are one of the only bands out there today that are not afraid to put world issues into their music either and Endgame is no different. They band sounds just as good as ever and their lyrics ring just as true as ever! This is a nother great album by these guys and my hat goes off to them for staying true to their message. I do n

Chicago's Rise Against began in 1999 when ex-88 Fingers Louie bassist Joe Principe tapped area vocalist Tim McIlrath for a new project rooted in the sound and social vision of traditionalist hardcore. Joined by fellow 88 Fingers vet Dan Precision on guitar and, eventually, drummer Brandon Barnes, Rise Against signed to Fat Wreck and issued The Unraveling in 2001. Precision left the band that same year to be replaced by Todd Mohney. Extensive touring followed, leading to their sophomore outing, 2002's...
