Essential Don (4 stars)
I just pulled this one out for the first time in a while and was floored anew at just how quintessential this recording is. Rubin has done us all a huge service by setting up the perfect crucible for Don to do what he has always done best: Deliver the goods with just an acoustic guitar and an occasional upright bass. Don does some delicate and deft fingerstyle arrangements here, and digs out some classic (and astonishigly cliche'-free) lyric

This album is truly beautiful... like most of Donovan's music, it puts me in a catatonic trance and forces me to daydream.

Trippy Brooding Lullabye (5 stars)
This is an excellent album. Rubin somehow took this collection of off-kilter hokey songs and made it into a soothing, peaceful gem. I have no idea how this has gone overlooked. Please give it a listen if you are into Donovan or anything singer/songwriterish.
