From beloved carols to freshly written numbers, Frank Sinatra interpreted just about every type of holiday tune. The Christmas Collection draws upon seasonal releases and TV special soundtracks from the ‘50s through the ‘90s for its selections, capturing the singer at both his festive and poignant moments. His saucy side comes through in jazzy takes on “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town” and “I’ve Got My Love to Keep Me Warm,” while “A Baby Just Like You” and “Whatever Happened to Christmas?” capture him in more mature, reflective moods. Worthy of special notice are “The Twelve Days of Christmas” (sung with children Nancy, Tina and Frank Jr.) and “The Christmas Song” (a mellow duet with Bing Crosby). Some of the lesser-known tracks here — such as the melodically lovely “The Christmas Waltz” — are among the best. I own every recording he ever made, every concert, etc. I know his music down from, "From the bottom of My Heart" in 1939 to "My Funny Valentine" on Duets II in 1994. This set is one of the five essential Sinatra purchases. It's not an original album. This compilation picks upon some of Sinatra's finest Christmas recordings between 1957 and 1991, including his 1957 television Christmas special f THE BEST!!!
