i,for one,would never dream of "reviewing" anything ms.ella sang,however,her interpretation of "night and day" is my favorite absolute perfection.if your looking to add to your ella collection ,sample tracks 1,10,14.

Not as good as Vol. 1 (3 stars)
I love Ella Fitzgerald, so any of her albums are great, but for some reason this just doesn't have the same magic as Vol. 1 in this series. That is one of my favorite CDs, so I thought this one would be as good. She is always amazing, and the better songs on this album are 'Night and Day', 'So In Love', 'I've Got you Under My Skin', and 'Don't Fence Me In.' The last is probably my favorite. For an Ella fan, it's worth buying. But buy 'Ella F

The Cole Porter Songbook (5 stars)
Ella, at the height of her vocal power in 1984, and Cole Porter's songs, the most sophisticated and among the best ever written in this country, are a perfect blend. These two volumes of Ella's interpretation are the best that can or will be done. A Newsweek reporter, when the Johnny Hartman, John Coltrane album came out, said that that was the perfect album. Put these volumes right alongside that one.

Blessed with a beautiful voice and a wide range, Fitzgerald could outswing anyone, was a brilliant scat singer, and had near-perfect elocution; one could always understand the words she sang. The one fault was that, since she always sounded so happy to be singing, Fitzgerald did not always dig below the surface of the lyrics she interpreted...
