The Transformation (4 stars)
It's hard for me to imagine how little this album is remembered by Hip Hop fans. Lyrically, "L" made those who thought it was safe to go after him on wax, think twice about doing so. There are only a handful of emcees that will never lose their street status, while maintaing a corporate appeal. He is in the top 3, without question. As far as rhymes, this is LL's best album. He kicks some of the coolest, battles rhymes from the East Coast. Production is above average, and the album is easy to listen to front to back. How I'm Comin' was hands down my favorite rap song of '94 and a few years after. It still bangs!!!
